Rollercoaster Love Story

The First Meeting

🪞 “Where are you going? You need to go to the hospital… You’re still bleeding.” 🏍️ “Of course, it’s an open wound. It would bleed.”

Their meeting wasn't a usual flowery encounter like those in romance series; instead, Helena was greeted with blood and an injured stranger who was Sylus, who trespassed into her home. He initially planned to introduce himself as the owner of the house, but he couldn't with his current situation. With that scene given, they wouldn't fall in love, and people typically would call the police if someone broke into their house. However, Helena's first instinct was to help this stranger. Sylus was riveted by her courage, but he was afraid to get an innocent civilian be involved with his business, so he left after getting treated, leaving no trace of his existence in her life. However, Helena, for some reason, craved his presence.

It took several months for them to reunite again. This time, Sylus introduces himself as Skye, a fruit vendor and owner of Helena's house, thereby becoming her landlord. He does not reveal his true identity to her, though, so as not to frighten her away.

Their Relationship Development

Sylus was first to discover that Helena is the other half of his soul and the red string of fate that is connected to her confirms it. He made it a habit to visit her, claiming that he was only there to check his property. But, in actuality, he wishes to be involved in her life. Helena interpreted this behavior as strictly professional, fearing that her “strong girl” persona might slip and be abandoned once more. Sylus, on the other hand, still saw right through her and could feel the weight of her lonely soul. He would get glimpses into her real life, which was sad and lonely. Helena is still afraid to confide in him, despite his obvious concern for her, until Sylus reveals the red string around their ring fingers. She finally realizes that she likes him more than she realizes.

However, everything turned opposite around after Helena unintentionally came across with Sylus with his subordinates carrying dangerous weapons while covered in blood.

Sylus distanced himself, unable to confront her disappointment. But Helena never felt that way; instead, she yearned for him even more. She wants to know who he really is.

The Revelation

🪞 “You are the reason of my nightmares...” 🏍️ “You have the gun, you have the choice to stop your nightmares.”

Sylus’s weekly visits had stop, not out of spite, rather because his business had put him in a tight spot. This implies dangerous missions and no means of communication. He continued to hide this from Helena out of concern that he might cause her harm. All she knows is that he'll be gone for a business trip.

However, Helena–being connected to him–she dreams every single moment of his dangerous missions. This causes her to lose sleep and be more depressed. She saw his reflection in a mirror during her dreams, and her whole world fell apart when she realized he was the reason of her nightmares.

Helena went up to him to ask some questions and confides to him with her sufferings, however Sylus read the room wrong and came at her brandishing a gun then urged her to put an end to him permanently. Her already mounting stress was compounded by the sudden shift in his behavior, which perplexed her and turned the situation into something unexpected: she took the gun under her chin and pulled the trigger. Sylus's heart sinks as Helena falls limp in his arms. Fortunately for her, he was quick to disintegrate the bullet with his Evol before it reaches her brain.

🪞 “Has your perception of me changed? You deserve someone better, a stronger person, unlike me.” 🏍️ “No, not at all. You are the only one for me, this string is still connecting us proves it.”

Sylus was wrong to provoke Helena into killing him to stop her recurring nightmares without knowing what she's going through. Even though he already knew what kind of life she led, he chose to treat her harshly that day.

Guilt consumes him as she grew distant. He does his best to keep her in his grasp despite her tendency to push him away. Day after day, he promises her that he will always be by her side and that he will not give up until he earns her trust again, unless she completely decides that she does not want him in her life.

However, Helena could no longer endure the notion of being alone. She already found him and she's not going to waste this chance. For as much her mind screams at her to loathe living, it is still a blessing and a true symbol of strength. As the time passes, Sylus slowly encourages Helena to embrace life…

Their New Beginning

🪞 “Did you notice the roses are blooming?” 🏍️ “Yes, I did, sweetie. I see everything you love.”

Helena bared everything to Sylus; she showed him her childish joy, her silliness, her emotional side, and even her anger issues. Sylus embraced it all. In exchange, Helena has accepted the dark side, but still not officially joining Onychinus. They didn't believe that they have impact on one another's lives, but those around them become aware of their drastic changes; from the way they smile and to the gleam of their eyes.
