You stole my heart… and you're going to pay for it.

The tides led me to you.

🦑 “Hello sir, may I interest you in ocean trinkets?” 🐟 “Hmm… They are all cute, but that necklace of yours; can I buy that one instead?”

It was a lively night; the seaside was packed with people and stands selling various ocean-related products. This is to honor the ocean's blessings. Eleanor took this opportunity to sell her latest collection. In these past weeks, the ocean has favored her with a number of beautiful stones, and she turned these into fine jewelry and trinkets. Looking at her humble stall, she can't help but be proud of herself.

However, her high hopes for a career breakthrough was washed away from her as the crowds dwindled throughout the night. It didn't completely crush her, though; she still made ends meet, just barely.

When she was about to close down her stall, a gentleman with dusky purple hair—akin to the ocean’s color during a sunset—approached her. Eleanor was captivated by the gleam of his eyes while he checked out her collection. Everything was appealing to him, but only one thing most got his attention: it was Eleanor’s scale necklace. It has a mysterious glow that is eerily familiar to him. He offered to buy it, but she declined despite the tempting price.

This gentleman introduced himself as Rafayel and he gave her his address, so she could contact him whenever she changes her mind.

Tranquil moment.

🦑 “I don't know what are you doing to my collection, but thank you for purchasing them! You’ve helped to survive this week.” 🐟 “No problem, cutie.”

Lady Luck had finally rewarded Eleanor's hard work by granting her Rafayel, her one and only patron. Even if one isn't sufficient in the eyes of others, it still represents growth. He sometimes provided her with freshly picked shells to work on, and she never failed to turn them into beautiful jewelry, so he wondered why people hadn't appreciated her work. Eleanor, on the other hand, thinks that her luck is like the ocean—it’s unpredictable. As they spent time together, they found that they share their passion for the ocean.

Eleanor doesn’t usually believe in the concept of loving someone. She, who once didn't mind the solitude, is suddenly hooked by Rafayel's charm.

As soon as Rafayel noticed the change, his plan started to take shape. He convinced her that “fate” intended for them to cross paths by discreetly noting all of her routes and schedules. It all began when they “accidentally” ran into each other on the bus, at the local park where she unwinds, and at the grocery store where she gets her discounted foods. Eleanor didn't mind the “coincidences” since she was really smitten. Rafayel was also attentive to her, which solidified her belief that he liked her in the same way she likes him.

Little did she know, Rafayel is already bound to someone. While he doesn't outwardly deny her feelings, the pang in his chest says it all—he doesn't want to hurt her, but he must remain focused on his goal: to learn the truth behind her necklace and if she's harming any Lemurians.

Call from the sea.

🐟 “You claim that you hadn’t harm any Lemurians, but how would you explain that you have a piece of their scale?!” 🦑 “This is given to me by my sister! My memories are all blurry since… that accident. Please, spare me… and this necklace, it's the only thing I have from her…”

While the moon is nigh, a distant call coming from the open sea can be heard by Eleanor only. The song lures her to the water. She steps on it, and her feet miraculously stand; her necklace emits an ethereal glow as she follows the melody.

A storm surge just as when she reaches the midst of the ocean; the thunder splits the night sky and the water beneath her feet swirls. A dark substance had tainted the water, obscuring her reflection. She begs the gods, or whoever is listening, that it isn't blood. Eleanor's hands instinctively reaches for her scale necklace, seeking answer to this reality.

A memory flashes in Eleanor's mind as the thunder roars once again. Everyone is panicking; the screams of lost adults and the cries of innocent children split her ears, but she couldn't care less. The only person she matters to her is the girl in front of her. She is pale as the moon and also trapped under heavy debris. Eleanor tightly clutches this girl's hands, afraid of losing her. There is also a pool of blood beneath her, indicating that she does not have much time left. This girl pulls away the familiar necklace and kisses it before handing it to Eleanor. With tears in Eleanor's eyes, this other girl opens her mouth to make her final wish…

However, the memory was cut short due to the scale’s sharpness, deeply cutting her finger. The stinging sensation opened her eyes as her lost memory finally catches up to her. Eleanor muttered this girl's name, which caught Rafayel's attention, cutting his song short which is fortunate for Eleanor. If he finishes his song, she would no longer breathing the same air as him.

Meanwhile, the name Eleanor mentioned was the girl who he was bound to—his first love.

The storm / Afflicting adoration.

🐚 “Keep this for me, Eleanor. The sea will deliver him to you, I am sure of it. Take care of him for me... okay?” 🦑 “What are you talking about? Please don't close your eyes yet… Nerissa, please!”

It should have been a relaxing vacation for Eleanor and her younger sister Nerissa; a week-long break from the academic stress, all expenses paid by their parents. They had already prepared their cameras for their planned itinerary: they would eat native foods, join the local festivities, try on their garments and accessories, and browse their famous night market.

However, it turned out to be a disastrous event for both of them. An unexpected storm shook their ship, which led to wreckage and panic among its passengers. People were losing their lives, and Nerissa was among them. Eleanor had firmly decided to stay with Nerissa no matter what happened; however, the rescuers snatched her away when they saw that her sister was beyond saving. This memory was so painful to Eleanor that her brain deliberately made her forget it.

As Eleanor's memories resurface, the truth becomes clear; Nerissa’s final wish was to return the fishscale necklace—a piece of her beloved’s heart—back to someone named who is also close to Eleanor’s heart: Rafayel. Devastated, it leaves her no choice but to set aside her feelings and return to what she once believed—she can't love someone in that way. Pursuing her love for the same person her sister once adored felt like a betrayal.

When Eleanor returns home and reveals that she finally remembers everything, her parents are left speechless. She crumbles on the floor as her last ounce of strength leaves her body, begging for forgiveness. Her mother, Avia Osborne, is the first one to join her on the floor. She hugs Eleanor tightly, fearful of losing another daughter.

In the past, while Avia never explicitly blamed Eleanor for Nerissa's death, her attitude towards her changed. Eleanor's partial amnesia kept her from understanding the abrupt change in her mother's demeanor, which affected their mother-daughter relationship.

Once everything has calmed down, they show Eleanor where her sister is resting. She spent a day alone at Nerissa's tomb, telling stories about her life and how did the sea delivered him to her just like she predicated. She also apologizes for developing feelings for the person she had once loved.

Eleanor will still love him, but not in the way Nerissa ever did. If he needs someone to cry on to or share his happiness, she’ll be there for him as a friend and for her sake. She promises her that she will never ever step that boundary.
